Each year there is a national Prisons Week, encouraging people to pray for all those affected by prisons. This year's Prisons Week runs from Sunday 13th to Saturday 19th of October. Prisoners' Sunday is a National Day of Prayer and action for prisoners and their dependants marked by the Catholic Church. It launches the week long ecumenical campaign of prayer for all those affected by imprisonment, a time to reflect on how we as individuals, as a Church and as an ecumenical community — can serve those whose lives are entwined with the Criminal Justice System.
